It’s true. Krysta came out to the Elbow Room last evening, where matt and I played
music with the long-time music man Chuck Damage. She had gone out to a birthday dinner with some friends before and they asked where I
was. After telling them, one friend asked if I was a DJ and Krysta said ’sortof’ or something like that. So I gave her a shitload of shit about
it. I’m not really serious, cos I don’t take any of it seriously and I don’t consider myself a real dj either. I prefer “dood playing mp3s” instead.
Maybe when I do it again in a couple weeks, I’ll be matching beats and scratching. Oh man, that would be totally awesome. And kids will
be breakin, and tagging. It will be such an urban affair.
I humbly submit my playlist (shortened because I realized most of the bargoers didnt want to hear dance music into my set) from last
evening:
0. Enon - Rubber Car
1. Ladytron - Playgirl
2. Human League - Love Action
3. Depeche Mode - Master and Servant
4. Duran Duran - Hold Back The Rain
5. Felix the Housecat - Glitz Rock
6. Adult. - Don’t You Stop
7. Devo - Jerkin’ Back and Forth
8. Spandau Ballet - To Cut A Long Story Short
9. Flin Flon - Floods
10. Joy Division - Transmission
11. The Rogers Sisters - I Dig a Hole
12. Kanda - In The Flesh
13. The Faint - Worked up so sexual
14. Soviet - Breakdown
My weekend was busier than my week. Spent 5 hours on thursday evening moving around bins, furniture and whatnot in a store the size of your
living room trying to make space for my dance night. Matt did alot of the decoration in his best gothic style (see Halloween/This isn’t
halloween) as well.
Living In Oblivion went off with only a few minor hitches involving bad cd players. Overall, it was a great time with a good amount of
people showing up. It was one of those “life experiences” dad always talks about, more of the experience probably being in the
preparation, or rather more of the learning being in the preparation. It was mos definitely fun to see what songs people reacted to and
what songs seemed to kill the crowd. Here are some of my best drunken photos (theyre not that bad).
Mom and Jeff also visited this weekend which involved botannical gardens, lots of walking and lots of eating out. Then Sunday was
krystas birthday with her parents and sister. Every place I ate was awesome, but I could definitely go without eating out for a while.
