The Frontier Is Wide Open

Ok, it is official now: I’m moving out to Seattle to take a job with Amazon in mid-May. I’m ready to do this, and want to have some great new personal and professional experiences. Wish me luck, I’ll need a bit. The family will become further away, and so will the friends, so it’s not all rosy. Amy and I are ecstatic for one another’s accomplishments, bittersweetness aside. It’s hard for us to not accomplish great things</boast>.

Congrats! To answer your question from my blog, the only “tech” quetion they asked was “how many places on the planet are there where you can walk 1 mile south, 1 mile west and 1 mile north and end up in the same location.” The best hint is walking north/south is defined as walking the longitude lines and walking west defined as following a latitude line. There’s an “easy” answer and a more complex and interesting answer. I needed a couple hints, but it’s a pretty good puzzle.

I’m going to be wrangling their Drupal site(s) and not doing hardcore product development, which suits me. Enjoy the other coast and if you make it out to NYC, give me a ring.

That’s so funny cos Topper got a really similar question in his interview, I think. Oh mind puzzles, you are so wacky! Except it added something like ‘what color bear is there?’ or something like that.

That’s exciting about working for someone that’s doing new, innovative things. I shall look you up in the York when I’m out. Do the same if you end up hitting the left coast.
